We wish you a Merry Christmas – Especially Keighley’s community heroes

Christmas Time, Mistletoe and W…wait, perhaps we won’t go down the Sir Cliff route just yet.

But festive songs aside it’s a most wonderful time for family, friends, eating too much, watching TV specials and relaxing (usually once the relatives have left).

However, let’s spare a thought for the people, around 1 million of them across the UK, who must work on December 25th.

Emergency services, hospital staff, carers, traffic officers and hospitality workers all spring to mind as people who will be putting in shifts across Keighley while many of us are having fun.

There are also scores of volunteers who give up their time for free on Christmas Day. From Childline and Samaritans helpline call handlers, to those who organise lunches on December 25th for lonely or vulnerable people in the community. They’re giving the most precious gift we have – their time.

So, to all those hardworking and community-spirited folks we’d like to say a huge thanks – you are local heroes.

And we hope they get a chance to spend quality time over the festive season with their loved ones.

At Keighley Whitegates we’ll be taking a well-earned break to prepare ourselves for what is already shaping up to be a very busy 2020 for the Keighley property market.
